Moving Data in SharePoint Online to another Folder
1. Open SharePoint Site
- Navigate to the relevant SharePoint site and document library
2. Locate
Files/Folders to Move
- In the document library, select
the files or folders you want to move. You can do this by clicking the
checkbox next to each item.
3. Use
the Move To Feature
- With your items selected, click
on the "Move to" button located on the command bar at the top of
the library. If you do not see this button, you might need to click on the
ellipsis (...) or "More" options to find it. You can also select
the ellipsis (...) next to the selected file/folder.
4. Choose
Destination
- A panel will appear. You will
see a list of existing folders within the document library. If you see the
folder named you want to move to simply select it. If it’s not visible,
click on "Browse sites" or use the navigation links to locate
and navigate to the root folder.
5.
Confirm the Move
- After selecting the folder you want to move to, click on the "Move here" button at the bottom of the
panel. SharePoint will then move the selected items to the chosen folder.
6. Verify
the Move
- Navigate to the selected folder to ensure that all the selected files and folders have been
moved successfully.
7. Check
for Errors
- If any issues arise during the
move (such as permission errors or file size limitations), SharePoint will
notify you. Address any issues according to the error messages or consult
with your SharePoint administrator if needed.
